The Christiansen-Roller-White-Miles Founders’ Scholarship was named in honor of Howard Christiansen, Robert H. Roller, William White and Charles Miles Jr.
These four men who ran solid waste systems in New York State were instrumental in starting the organization that has become 300-plus members strong since its inception in 1975.
NYSASWM is an organization which strives for proper solid waste management by utilizing the hierarchy of reduction, reuse, recycling, energy recovery and engineered landfills. An important part of the Association’s mission is to promote the education of the next generation of New York’s solid waste managers. Therefore, the Association is proud to sponsor this scholarship program.
This scholarship program is open to full-time college students entering their sophomore, junior or senior year and full-time students entering or in graduate school. Eligible candidates should be pursuing a degree in environmental science, planning, engineering or other suitable major related to the field of solid waste management at a New York College or University.
